500 00 - GENERAL NOTE
General note Recent feedback from the Primary National Strategy team re-iterated that improving attainment in writing remains the key priority at KS2 for 2009-2010. Teachers are being encouraged to draw on the 'Support for Writing ' and 'Talk for Writing' materials to improve subject knowledge, planning and teaching. Despite these recent government initiatives, getting boys to write is still a big area of concern for many teachers who are constantly on the look out for new and targeted materials that will motivate and inspire boys! The content of these titles ticks all the curriculum review boxes. It includes a focus on speaking and listening and role-play, it supports progression in literacy 'within an engaging and creative learning context' and it takes into account the cross-curricular nature of literacy tasks recommended by the review. These books provide information and ideas for teachers to help stimulate and promote writing amongst boys - materials that will take them into writing via talk, role-play and other stimuli.
